How likely is your company to get its lunch eaten by someone with a $20/month AI subscription and a free weekend? We score every publicly traded company. No diplomacy. Just the number.

// The $20 Problem

Anthropic's Economic Index identified coding as the single occupation with the highest AI exposure. That's not a warning — that's a map.

Every company whose core product is pure code-as-a-service, with no IP, no data moat, no network lock-in — is one motivated weekend builder away from irrelevance.

If your moat is "we wrote the code first" and your IP is thin, your entire business is a weekend project for someone with a Claude Code subscription. The score tells you exactly how exposed you are.

// Methodology v2 — The Rubric

Cloning the code
is the easy part.

The true yoinkability question isn't "can someone build this?" — with AI coding tools, almost anyone can build anything. The real question is "can they steal the customers?" That delta — between cloning the product and capturing the market — is where the actual risk (and opportunity) lives.

01
20%
Code Replicability
How fast could a solo builder with Claude Code replicate the core product? Pure CRUD SaaS: days. Complex infra with real-time data pipelines or hardware integration: months. Score = speed of replication.
02
25%
Network Density
Does the value scale with the number of users? Two-sided marketplaces (buyers + sellers), social graphs, job boards — all score low here, meaning high protection. A tool used by one person in isolation scores high risk.
03
20%
Regulatory & Licence Moat
Insurance licences, banking charters, healthcare certifications, financial regulation. This is a real wall — not bureaucratic friction but a legal requirement that takes years and capital to acquire. Insurance companies score very low risk here.
04
15%
Switching Cost & Lock-in
How painful is migration? ERP systems with years of data: very hard. AP automation embedded in accounting workflows with bank integrations: hard. A dashboard with a monthly subscription and a CSV export: trivial. We score actual migration cost, not contract length.
05
10%
Proprietary Data Moat
Does the product get smarter with usage in a way that can't be replicated? Unique datasets, training data, transaction history, actuarial models. Bill.com's payment history. Rightmove's 10M listings. These are real moats even if the code isn't.
06
10%
Human Relationship Layer
Enterprise sales relationships, vet clinic partnerships, government contracts, bank connectivity. When the product's distribution depends on trust relationships built over years — not just a sign-up flow — the yoink is exponentially harder.
Score 80–100
CRITICAL
Pure tool SaaS. No network, no licence, no lock-in. One motivated builder, one weekend.
Score 55–79
HIGH
Some moat but thin. Replicable code + weak switching cost. Months, not a weekend.
Score 30–54
MEDIUM
Real moat exists — network, data, or regulation. Yoinkable in theory but costly in practice.
Score 0–29
LOW
Deep moat. Regulatory capture, dense network, or infrastructure that takes a decade to build.

// Field Reports

Not just our thesis.
Show the receipts.

We want stories from builders, operators, consultants, and employees who have already replaced expensive software, internal tools, or manual enterprise workflows with something faster, cheaper, and absurdly small. That turns yoinkability from a theory into evidence.

REAL BUILDS.
REAL DISPLACEMENT.
Case studies from inside the market, not just outside commentary
Internal Tool Replacement
Three analysts.
One weekend.
No vendor.
Share the story of an internal dashboard, reporting workflow, or approval system your team rebuilt instead of renewing a bloated SaaS contract.
“We were paying enterprise pricing for a glorified CRUD app. We rebuilt the core flow in days and never looked back.”
SaaS Bypass
The product still exists.
But nobody needs it.
Tell us about the moment AI, scripts, or a lightweight custom tool made a well-known software category optional for your team or clients.
“We didn’t clone the incumbent feature for feature. We just removed the need for the category.”
Enterprise Escape
What used to need a budget
now needs one operator.
If you replaced procurement-heavy enterprise software with something lean, we want the before-and-after: team size, time saved, cost delta, and what held up in production.
“The shocking part wasn’t that we could rebuild it. It was how little of the original stack actually mattered.”
Built something that replaced a vendor, shrank a software stack, or made an enterprise tool irrelevant? Send the story. We’ll use these submissions as public proof that the yoink is already happening in the wild.

// Who it's for

Three reasons
to care

Investors
The market hasn't priced yoink risk into most SaaS valuations. Yet.
  • Screen portfolios for AI displacement risk
  • Find short candidates before the narrative hits
  • Identify companies with real AI-proof moats
  • Track score delta as a lead indicator
Employees
Know before the layoff announcement. Is your company's product a weekend project for someone with a $20 sub?
  • Check your employer's current score
  • Understand 3-year risk trajectory
  • Find lower-risk companies to move to
  • Evaluate equity comp with eyes open
Builders
High yoinkability scores are treasure maps. The higher the score, the bigger the gap.
  • Find fat incumbents ripe for disruption
  • Validate a market is actually yoinkable
  • Prioritise which clone to build first
  • Benchmark your own defensibility
